Entrance of the Wedding BaugThis is a featured page

Zoroastrians (or Parsees, as they are called in India) are a group of people who came to India from Iran (which the Greeks called Persia) in the 8th century CE (AD). The prophet Zoroaster lived in Iran during the 7th century BCE. The Magi who, according to the Bible, visited Bethlehem were Zoroastrian priests. In Mumbai, where most of the Parsees in India live today, there are many Zoroastrian temples and "baugs," which are large, high-walled, open-air courtyards where Parsee wedding receptions are celebrated with beautiful displays of flowers and banquets of traditional Parsee foods like dhansak dal and fish patia. Notice the large garland over the entrance and in the lower right hand corner flowers decorating the wedding car.
