Parsi - A Parsi is a member of the close-knit Zoroastrian community in or from the Indian subcontinent, and is a descendant of people who, in the 8th century, emigrated to the west coast of India from Persia to escape religious persecution.



Zoroastrian - A Zoroastrian is a follower of the teachings of prophet Zarathushtra (Zoroaster). The definition of who (and who is not) a Zoroastrian or a Parsi is a matter of great contention within the Zoroastrian community.



Ahura Mazda - Ahura Mazda or Hormazd is the supreme creator accoring to the Zoroastrian religion.



Avesta - The Avesta is a collection of the sacred texts of the Zoroastrian religion.



Gathas - The Gathas form the oldest part of Avesta, the holy scripture of the Zoroastrian religion, traditionally believed to have been composed by Zarathushtra himself.



Farvahar - The Faravahar or Farohar is one of the best known symbols of the Zoroastrian religion. Believed to be a depiction of a Farvashi.



Agiary - The Fire Temple (Dar-e Mihr, Atash Kadeh, Agiary) is a place of worship for Zoroastrians. There are different levels and types of fire temples.
