Dear all, thanks for this very interesting pic of Zarathustra and would like to make following comments about it. The picture of Zarathustra is centered in a circle of European astrological or star sign symbols, some of which from the left the crab for Cancer, the lion for Leo, then going upwards on the right is the scale for Libra. The others are not very clear. On the left below the sign of Leo there are three words in Gujarati. The first is not very clear but the other two are, 'Aaspen' and 'Behram.' The other three words to the left on the same line and also in Gujarati are not clear. Below all this there is more writing which I feel would be in Farsi. I will check this with an Iranian friend here and let you know. The allegory to the stormy sea and protection from it and the 'storms' of life is quite correct. I feel that this picture was created by a Parsi astrologer or a palmist. While it is old, I doubt if it as old as 1200 years, the time of arrival of the Parsis in India, as Parsis did notknow Gujarati then. Please request the lady to see in her prayer book for the date of the publication of the book, or some date in the front or back, which persons write when they buy a book, or at the back of the picture itself. Or if can remember who had the book in the family and when, which wil give some date.It certainly is old and very unique in its design. And do please let me know what she finds. Cheers and love to all. prema, shanti,ahinsa... love,peace,kindness... upendo, raha, latifu... Kersi Rustomji. Planet Earth.ex-Kenya.. Australia kersiru@gmail.com
